The Shaker Retro Rocket - $159.95 :The coolest thing to happen since crystal was put with brass, wood and wind. Call it as you see it, vintage/aged/historic/re-creation. It's a truly awesome microphone. It's a Shaker Retro Rocket and it's time to advance backwards into the new age of the Blues, with a "shakerized" high output bullet type harp mic. The Shaker RR is really easy to hold, fits right in the cup of your hands. It's approximately 40% smaller than traditional bullet type mics. This reduces hand fatigue and allows the player to use hand movements such as wah-wah effects with more control. The Retro Rocket also retains the tonal qualities that made the great original bullet mics so special but with a Shaker touch of technology and craftsmanship. Played open its voice is crystal clear and accurate, but cup it tight and blow hard, it gets nasty fast. The RR will drive any tube amp as hard as it will go.
It has been designed the same as all of our mics, "by harp players for harp players". It's the real deal. Cast metal alloy body with a black crinkle powder coat finish, and high output crystal element. Solid hand cast pewter grille and a special 1/4" guitar type input connector. This is one high output microphone, with over the edge dynamics and a truck load of harmonic overtones. The RR rejects feedback just like the rest of our Shaker mics. Not to the same extent, but we believe better than any other bullet mic made. And our Retro Rocket endorsers testify to this.
As of June 1, 2010, Retro Rockets will be manufactured using a modified 1/4" guitar type input jack rather than the old timey screw on connector. This eliminates the need for the adaptor. If any player wants the old timey connector, they can order it direct from us. Same price. Pay Pal button set up for this mic on the custom mic page.
Dynamic Shaker with 1/4" connector - $99.95
This mic has an 11 detent volume control knob. The tone is thick, full bodied, with a lot of harmonic overtones, and has great feedback rejection. This mic is identical on the outside to the Crystal Shaker, but that's where the similarity ends. It has a wide frequency response and strong mid range. The shape is ergonomatic, designed to fit in the hand that holds the harp, with almost no conscious effort. It's a design thing. This greatly reduces hand fatigue and allows greater use of both hands for gestures. This is one great sounding mic. Lightweight, under 4 ounces.
CRYSTAL SHAKER with 1/4" connector- $99.95 *The Crystal Shaker is a Hi-Z microphone with more of an accurate sound, with less tonal coloration than the Dynamic. Some call it cleaner, we say it has more acoustic clarity. Yet it breaks up with true ice pick in the ear crystal distortion characteristics when pushed hard. When you need to cut through a thick rhythm section, this mic has the "in your face" presence and crystal edge to get the job done. This mic has also has fantastic feedback rejection and is housed in the same casing as the dyno, so it's just as easy to hold. This is our original Shaker microphone. It was born in 1992. And we're really proud of it! It also has the 11 detent volume control.
MADCAT SHAKER $159.95 (with female/female coupler) The Shaker Madcat model doesn't look like any other microphone. It doesn't respond like any microphone ever produced; it is a totally new approach to harmonica amplification. The design is radical, the shape is functionally perfect, the technology is typical Shaker, way ahead of the rest. The Shaker Madcat has a unique new design which enables you to amplify not only the sound of the harp, but all the hand shaped tones usually associated with acoustic harmonica playing. With the Shaker Madcat you can, for the first time, mic the natural wah-wah sound of a harmonica from inside your cupped hands. This microphone picks up all of the sounds produced within the variable acoustic chamber created by your cupped hands.
The Mad Dog - $159.95 (with female/female coupler)
A second generation Madcat microphone for those who love the ease of using the Madcat, but want a BIGGER bottom end. What does it sound like? We like to say "creamy" over all tone. The tone is very "Butterfieldish". Definitely unique. Same ergonomic shape as the Madcat, but with a bigger bottom pod. Very technique sensative due to its large diameter dynamic element. This mic has a big bite!

The newest addition to the "Shaker Family", the VET MICROPHONE
The Vet microphone is a new microphone developed by Shakey Joe. It has a different response & tonal character. It's frequency range is not as wide as normal Dynamic mics. It reproduces in the 35 - 6,000 Hz range, so it has less head room. This has a dynamic effect on its voice. The contour of the mics body is more round which helps in getting a good airtight cup. It has an awesome big sound, great feel, more like traditional bullet type mics, but it only weighs 4 ounces, due to its thermo resin casing. The volume pot has a smooth rotation, and comes out the backside. This mic has good feedback resistance and is a joy to use. The retail price for the Vet Microphone directly from us is $129.95.
Dynamic element with XLR - $109.95
Crystal element with XLR - $109.95
Crystal & Dynamic XLR: A high quality Switchcraft XLR connector, wired pin 2 hot, which is standard industry.
The Crystal microphone has a black & silver label. The Dynamic microphone has a red & silver label.
