Retro Rocket w/adaptor
The Shaker Retro Rocket - $159.95
The coolest thing to happen since carbon and crystal were put with brass, wood and wind. Call it as you see it, vintage/aged/historic/ re-creation. It's a truly beautiful microphone.
It's a Shaker Retro Rocket and it's time to advance backwards into the new age of the Blues, with a "shakerized" bullet type harp mic.
The RR is basically a no nonsense Shaker designed bullet type microphone retaining the qualities that made the great original bullet mics so special but with a Shaker touch of technology and craftsmanship.
It has been designed the same as all of our mics, "by harp players for harp players". It has all the snap, crackle and pop any blues rock harp player could want. It's the real deal. Cast metal alloy body, with black crinkle powder coat finish, that we call "black velvet", and high output crystal element. Solid pewter grill, old timey screw on connector. This is one high output microphone, with over the edge dynamics and a truck load of harmonic overtones. The RR rejects feedback just like the rest of our Shaker mics. Not to the same extent, but we believe better than any other bullet mic made. And our Retro Rocket endorsers testify to this.
Designed to work perfectly w/guitar and bass amps
Dynamic Shaker with 1/4" connector - $99.95
This mic has an 11 detent volume control knob. The tone is thick, full bodied, with a lot of harmonic overtones, and has great feedback rejection. This mic is identical on the outside to the Crystal Shaker, but that's where the similarity ends. It has a wide frequency response and strong mid range. The shape is ergonomatic, designed to fit in the hand that holds the harp, with almost no conscious effort. It's a design thing. This greatly reduces hand fatigue and allows greater use of both hands for gestures. This is one great sounding mic. Lightweight, under 4 ounces.
The crystal or dynamic Shaker is available with the XLR Swiftcraft 3 pin connector - $109.95 This is wired pin 2 hot.
CRYSTAL SHAKER with 1/4" connector- $99.95 * The Crystal Shaker is a Hi-Z microphone with more of an accurate sound, with less tonal coloration than the Dynamic. Some call it cleaner, we say it has more acoustic clarity. Yet it breaks up with true ice pick in the ear crystal distortion characteristics when pushed hard. When you need to cut through a thick rhythm section, this mic has the "in your face" presence and crystal edge to get the job done. This mic has also has fantastic feedback rejection and is housed in the same casing as the dyno, so it's just as easy to hold. This is our original Shaker microphone. It was born in 1992. And we're really proud of it! It also has the 11 detent volume control.

MADCAT SHAKER - $159.95 (with female/female coupler) -* The Shaker Madcat model doesn't look like any other microphone. It doesn't respond like any microphone ever produced; it is a totally new approach to harmonica amplification. The design is radical, the shape is functionally perfect, the technology is typical Shaker, way ahead of the rest. The Shaker Madcat has a unique new design which enables you to amplify not only the sound of the harp, but all the hand shaped tones usually associated with acoustic harmonica playing. With the Shaker Madcat you can, for the first time, mic the natural wah-wah sound of a harmonica from inside your cupped hands. This microphone picks up all of the sounds produced within the variable acoustic chamber created by your cupped hands.

Madcat is on the right
Fourth Quarter Madcat 2008 update.
Significant changes have been made to improve our Shaker Madcat microphone. The following is an explanation of this exciting news. We believe the Shaker Madcat is the most technique sensitive harmonica microphone in the world. It was developed by Joe Harless aka Shakey Joe in collaboration with the amazing Peter Madcat Ruth. Madcat is one of the most dynamic and innovative harmonica players in the music industry. And this is the microphone he uses. The Madcat mic has evolved steadily from its conception. The basic size, shape and electronics have remained constant. The materials the microphone body has been constructed of have constantly evolved.
Now pay attention, this is the newest update!
We have made our Madcats out of wood for over two years and that chapter has had to come to an end. It was not financially feasible. The wood Madcats will still be available as special order custom made units. Available only thru us. The price is $249.95. And we need one month lead time. The good news is the next step in Madcat evolution is here. Shaker Microphone has developed a special new extremely resonant resin that we call "Shaker Sono Resin", and are utilizing some very high tech injection molding to produce the most advanced and consistant Madcat ever.
It is our intent to supply you, the harmonica player, with the very best blues tools that can be made. We are constantly endeavoring to improve and perfect our microphone line. We're betting on the future!

WOOD MADCAT PICS! Available on custom order basis. $195.00 and 4 weeks lead time.
MADCAT HOW TO: Hold Shaker Madcat in left hand between fingers, grill pointing at harp. Volume control above your knuckles, harmonica and microphone in same hand. Cup hands around harp and play. Attatch coupler to belt, hook microphone in one side, cord to amp in other side, or plug Madcat directly into wireless sender unit.
VOLUME CONTROL: The first two thirds of turn is basically off, only the last one third of volume control is active. We designed it that way so that a slight roll of the finger can affect the volume.
AMP SETTING: Every amp is different, so is every ear. It's up to you. A good place to start with most amps is the bass at 8, mids at 3, adjust to your personal taste and desired tone.
We have found the Madcat microphone to be very compatible with some pre amp type effect amps. TheBOSS = Blues Driver works extremely well and is recommended by Madcat himself. Other units that we've heard work well are:
Pre Sonus Tube Pre = L R Bags = Gig Pro.
If you find a magic setup that you like, let us know. Send us a letter (no Email or Fax's please) and a diagram of your setup, we'll pass the info on to other Madcat players.
The Mad Dog - $159.95 (with female/female coupler)
A second generation Madcat microphone for those who love the ease of using the Madcat, but want a BIGGER bottom end. What does it sound like? We like to say "creamy" over all tone. The tone is very "Butterfieldish". Definitely unique. Same ergonomic shape as the Madcat, but with a bigger bottom pod. Very technique sensative due to its large diameter dynamic element. This mic has a big bite!

The WSB - $74.95
A low price microphone for these economic hard times. Great introductory mic, or great back up mic. A no frills, pro quality, hard wired w/10 ft. cable, very affordable mic. Hot crystal element, the same as our standard crystal Shaker. It cuts thru the bull! We, here at Shaker, realize money is tight, and we believe the WSB is probably the lowest priced, highest quality microphone available to harp players.
